Luca Marzari redpointing El Somaro 8a, Lumignano

Young Italian Luca Marzari has been climbing for a mere two years but his name is being to circulate in the Northern parts of the Bel Paese. While last year he managed to send various 7a's at his favourite crag Lumignano, not even a year later he has managed a significant leap forward by climbing two ultra-classics.

Just a few days ago the Marzari made short work of "Passo falso” which after a broken hold has now become a difficult 8a, and this was swiftly followed by the "El Somaro" (first free ascent Heinz Mariacher), two of the hardest routes of this grade in Northern Italy and further afield!

All that remains is to congratulate Marzari who has now managed to redpoint two important routes which form an integral part of the history of sport climbing, climbed by the likes of Heinz Mariacher, Luisa Iovane, Martin Scheel and Pietro Dal Prà, to name but four.
