Making the most of his stay at the Melloblocco, on Monday British climber James Pearson made the first repeat of Quello che non c’è, the 8c+ first ascended by valley local Simone Pedeferri last year on Sasso Remenno in Val Masino.

"It was a great experience, and a great surprise to do it. I was belayed by Simone which made things even more memorable, he was very happy to see his route receive its second ascent" is how Pearson described his latest climb.

Small sidenote: Val Masino and Val di Mello obviously catch people's immagination even after the Mello. This is one of the most beautiful aspects and exactly what everyone (not only the organisers) hoped for the valley. Because, let it be said once again, what the Melloblocco event aspires to certainly isn't to overcrowd the beautiful mountain rock faces and extraordinary Val Masino boulders for 12 months a year, but to get people to know about valleys and experience them in their silence and startling beauty, to be be safeguarded.
