Ferro, the cool summer crag in Val del Ferro (Val di Mello, Italy)

Ferro is an atypical crag, a long way from the valley floor, immersed in unique alpine environment, where climbing is only a small part of the equation. Simone Pedeferri introduces the crag Ferro crag in Val del Ferro (Val di Mello, Val Masino, Italy), developed with Davide Spini, Max Piazza, Nicolò Bartoli, Marco Giorgio and Luca Schiera.

Just like many of the adventures I've had, this one began by pure chance, from looking at a photo, from the desire to be curious and the desire to never stop searching for the perfect line in a valley that despite having explored a lot, never ceases to amaze me.

I spent the last two summers up at this crag, immersed in nature and in a magnificent setting. I bolted and climbed beautiful routes, witnessed unique sunsets, and had a great time with superb friends. I couldn't have hoped for anything better.

The video we made with Michele Caminiati and the Ragni di Lecco tries to explain all the nuances of this adventure, and hopefully helps others understand how this atypical crag was created, a long way from the valley floor, immersed in unique alpine environment, where climbing is only a small part of the equation.
