En Attendant Berhault and more by Cristian Brenna
Cristian Brenna frees En Attendant Berhault 8b+ at Finale
| Autumn is finally here and Cristian Brenna has sent us his intense summer resumè. It starts off in June, when three takes were all that were needed to free "En Attendant Berhault", the enormous roof in Finale, Italy. Bolted in the early '90's by a group of locals, it was left as an open project and deemed impossible by many until François Nicole found a new solution for the crux moves. Brenna graded the route 8b+ but, given the high temperatures, feels confirmation is needed. No confirmation is needed for his other ascents though, which include the first repeat of Alberto Gnerro's Lucky Man (8c) in the Valle di Gressoney and the ascents of the 8b milestones Kendo and Looping, in Valle San Nicolò. On search of cooler temperatures Brenna travelled to Austria's Zillertal where he repeated Silrmarillion, 8b third attempt. |
