On 30 September Mauro Bubu Bole made the first free ascent of his project on the SW Face of Torre Trieste, Dolomites. The 20-pitch, 900m route is dedicated to Patrick Berhault, and takes a near direct line up the center of the wall. The crux pitch, a technical 50m crimp fest, weighs in at 8a and is protected, like the rest of the route, by 8mm bolts. Bole writes the following about his first ascent in the Alps.

"I used, firstly out of laziness, secondly out of personal choice, hand placed 8mm bolts. All the gear I has been left in-situ, including the belays. For a repeat ascent I recommend a series of nuts and friends, two 50m ropes, and a serious dose of good will and sensitivity when moving over friable rock.

A particular thanks goes to Patrick Berhault, for all that he managed to transmit in all these years to me and to those who have chosen climbing to be part of the lives...that's why I dedicated this route in his memory !"
