Ben Hur perfer et obdura

Located high up in the Excalibur sector, the overhanging Ben Hur was established in 1997 by Swiss climbers Mike Schwitter and Andy Maag with long run-outs and few bolts. 12 years after the ascent and with no known repeats, they returned and added 30 bolts to make their five star route a safer proposition. A small trad rack is nevertheless recommended and some sections remain exposed.

GETTING THERE

Reach Gadmen via the Sustenpassstrasse, from Obermaad take the toll road to the Wendenalp.

ACCESS

From the Wendenalp ascend on foot for 1.5 hours. The route starts close to Aureus.
