Mottarone
The recently discovered “Parco dei Sassi” is located above Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore, directly in front of Monte Rosa. Reddish/grey granite boulders up to 5m high, large grained and rounded, result in slopy moves above grass or sand landings. This splendid bouldering area is divided into 6 main areas, most of which remain completely untouched.
GETTING THERE
From the east: take the motorway A8, Milano - Laghi and turn off onto the A26 Gravellona Toce. Exit at Carpugnino and continue to Mottarone (16km, the final section is privately owned and costs Euro 4,00)From the west: from Turin take the motorway A4 east. Turn off north onto the A26 (Voltri – Sempione) towards Gravellona Toce. Exit at Borgomanero and continue along the 229 past Gozzano. Turn off right towards Armeno and follow signs to Mottarone. The final section is privately owned and costs Euro 4,00

NOTES
The “Parco dei Sassi” is on private land used for sheep grazing. Please respect the environment, don't chip holds, mark the boulders with chalk, and keep all dogs on lead until the end of November. A code of conduct has been established, please check out www.arrampicando.it for details.
