El Chorro - Desplomlandia
Desplomlandia seems to have it all: it is close to a quiet road, has a magnificent view over the lake, "Buitre"(giant vultures) circling overhead and an almost alpine climate. Come here to relax.
GETTING THERE
Desplomlandia is situated to the north of El Chorro, close to the lakes. From El Chorro follow the road that leads to the lakes above the gorge. Turn right at the fork instead of following the road to Ardales. Continue past some dams, a campsite and a small village comprised of a restaurant and a bar.Desplomlandia can be seen above to the right: park at the side of the road and follow the dirt track to the foot of the crag.
THE CLIMBING
The rock is good quality featured limestone with pockets and edges.Climbing tends to be technical, but varies from one sector to the next. Sector Como la Vida Misma is a great place to warm-up on, while Sector Secreto probabily is not.
FOOD AND ACCOMODATION
Accommodation is not a problem in El Chorro. Visitors can choose from a campsite, the characteristic climbers' "refugio", the hotel next to the station and many welcoming "fincas".Finca la Campana, run by John and Christine, is friendly and highly recommended. e-mail el-chorro@el-chorro.com.
