Mavrosouvala is usually referenced as the best sport climbing crag in Athens. This is not an exaggeration especially if your climbing ability goes above 7a. Almost 50 routes and linkups on offer, mainly above 7b. Some super hard lines and projects also exist.
Following E-75 highway, from Athens towards Lamia, take the exit towards “Markopoulo - Oropos” Three kilometers after the exit, turn left on small sign towards Mavrosouvala and then immediately turn right on small road. Follow the asphalt road for another 2,5km and then turn left on dirt road. Follow the road for 200m till reaching the rocks to your left.
LogisticsAthens has a huge variety of accommodation ranging from cheap hostels to luxurious hotels. The city centre combines sightseeing opportunities, ease of access (less than 1h following E1 motorway) and lively nightlife. On the other hand, the nearby seaside town of Oropos can offer an alternative closer accommodation for climbing in Mavrosouvala.
