Ski mountaineeing 19th Transacavallo
Luca Negroni, Luciano Fontano, Gloriana Pellissier and Alexia Zuberer win the 19th Transacavallo
The 19th Transacavallo took place on Sunday 3 March at Alpago, N. Italy and was won by Luca Negroni and Luciano Fontano. Gloriana Pellissier and Alexia Zuberer won the womens event, gaining precious points for the third and final stage of the Italian Ski Mountaineering Cup 2002. Saturday nights incessant rain forced the organisers to make last-minute changes to the course, which with its 1400m height difference proved technically more demanding than expected. Negroni and Fontano took an early lead, followed by recently crowned World Champions Boscacci and Murada, who later finished sixth due to problems with their climbing skins. Gloriana Pellissier and Alexia Zuberer maintained their regular and punishing rhythm to cross the finishing line in just 2.35.12. Results Women
