Alex Honnold, new super highball at Bishop

16.01.2012 by Planetmountain

At the Buttermilks in Bishop (USA) Alex Honnold has freed Too Big to Flail, a super highball up the immense Luminance Block.

Got 34 crashpads? Well perhaps, but only perhaps, you're ready to attempt the new boulder problem Alex Honnold freed yesterday at the Buttermilks close to Bishop, USA. Called "Too Big to Flail", the problem climbs the immense Luminance Block and even if the V9 (7C+) technical crux is located at circa 7m off the deck, the journey to the top (circa 14m high) is the real test requiring finger strength, excellent footwork and nerves of steel.

Wills Young, author of the Bishop bouldering guidebook explained "With the moves up high being complex and feet-intensive, this is likely the most serious proposition in the Buttermilks.." As usual congratulations to Alex Honnold who this time last year repeated another massive highball, Ambrosia. And naturally an applause is needed for his friends and their 34 crashpads!
