Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Pellisier freed by Bubu Bole
Mauro Bubu Bole makes the first free ascent of the Camillotto Pellisier route on the Cima Grande di Lavaredo, grading it F8b
Another works in progress on the Tre Cime di Lavaredo comes to an end for Mauro Bubu Bole. This time the Italian mountaineer has made the first free ascent of "Camillotto Pellesier" on the North Face of the Cima Grande di Lavaredo (2999m). The aid route, first climbed by the Minuzzo brothers in 1967, now goes free at F8b. Bole backed up the old belays with twin bolts but climbed the pitches using the orginal pegs. He fixed a static line tup to the large roof and worked the vertical section of the route, before frreing it in a push in the company of Kurt Astner. Bole describes the protection as "numerous pegs, one every 70-80 centimeters, but at times hammered in only a few milimters and all, immancabilmente, facing downwards. Good enough rest on, but I don't know whether they'd hold even a small fall." Via "Camillotto Pellesier" Cima Grande di Lavaredo 2999m North Face First ascent E. e M.
