Nice icefall, one of the best in the area, not to be missed. Even if it faces SW the icefall receives the sun at the start of February only.
GETTING THERE
From Brunico in Val Pusteria, drive towards Valle Aurina. After Campo di Tures (Sand in Taufer) turn off into Valle di Riva towards Riva di Tures.
ACCESS
Park the car on the left circa 2km after Pension Tobelhof on the road which leads to Riva di Tures, in the layby at the entrance to the quarry. Take car not to block access to this. The icefall is obvious on the lefthand side of the road. Continue on foot along the gravel track, cross through the quarry and reach the base of the icefall in 10 minutes.
DESCENT
First abseil off the tree, second abseil off an Abalakov, third abseil off bolts or, if these are iced over, off Abalakov again.
