Route
Like Tempi Moderni on the South Face of the Marmolada, Tempi Modernissimi on the Sasso delle Undici indicated where the new challenges lay, proving it possible to climb apparently impossible, blank faces.
First climbed by the duo Heinz Mariacher and Luisa Iovane at the end of the eighties, it is still considered one of the earliest extreme alpine routes. Opened from the ground-up using bolts, the route follows a line of smooth pocketed slabs and bulges, similar to those on the South Face, with difficulties up to 7c+.

Getting there
Take the motorway A22 Modena-Brennero and exit, after Bolzano, at Ora. Drive up the Val di Fiemme to Predazzo, then up the Val di Fassa to Canazei. Continue on up to Passo Fedaia. Access
Sasso delle Undici is clearly visible from Passo Fedaia on the North Face of the Marmolada. Leave the car at the pass and walk up the piste, and leave this at the height of the Sasso, following scree and limestone slabs right to the base of the enormous pillar. Climb up the short pedestal from the left over a series of small scree-filled ledges. The start of the route is the obvious open V, with two small caves on either side. Take care: the route described here heads off vertically using the old Cassin bolts. Do not get confused by other nearby lines. Descent
Abseil down the route. All belays in-situ. Gear

Attenzione: nel secondo tiro manca la piastrina del terzo fix (10 mm)!!!

Sinceramente mi aspettavo di trovare una roccia più solida, soprattutto sui primi 2 tiri dove può restare in mano parecchia roba ed io stesso sul secondo sono volato causa la rottura di un appoggio.I tiri seguenti sono più belli, soprattutto il terzo e il quarto con belle sequenze tecniche su buchi in stile "Marmolada". Comunque le vie della Sud sono di ben altro impegno ed anche la roccia della parete d'argento non è paragonabile a quella del Sasso delle undici.

Su alcune cose sono d'accordo con Valerio. La via ha un grande valore storico e il coraggio dei primi salitori è indiscusso. Secondo me l'obbligatorio si aggira intorno al 7a-7a+ mai pericoloso. La roccia non è cosi buona come sembrerebbe guardando dal basso. Ogni tanto qualche piccolo appoggio si sbriciola sotto i piedi. Via di grande soddisfazione che necessita d'esperienza e buona tecnica. Peccato che non sia possibile scaldarsi prima di partire sul primo tiro. Questo lo rende molto difficile.

Il Sasso delle Undici è una parete perfetta con una roccia da sogno.Bravi ed equilibrati sono stati Luisa ed Hainz ad aprire una via così. Tempi modernissimi non è una via pericolosa e l'obbligatorio si aggira tra il 6C/7A. Gli spit sono dove servono anche se sul bellissimo terzo tiro si sarebbe potuto mettere qualche tricam invece degli spits.Il primo tiro è bello, chiodato circa ogni 5 metri, con qualche passaggio boulder all'inizio e poi un po' di continuità per arrivare in sosta. Secondo tiro su tacche piccole con un boulderino in uscita.Il capolavoro a mio parere resta il 4° tiro di 7B protetto anche a chiodi normali perchè lì Hainz è riuscito a passare con fantasia e coraggio.I tiri seguenti non sono banali e bisogna ricercare la giusta linea di salita perchè non sempre lo spit darà una giusta indicazione...gli ultimi tiri hanno alcuni tratti di roccia non buona ma sono facili (utili alcuni friends).Bravi gli apritori; via stupenda!!!
