Route

A classic, long itinerary. Although the ascent is not particularly demanding, the vertical height gain is considerable.
Access
The starting point for this itinerary is Hotel Genziana located at the end of Val Martello. From Bolzano drive towards Merano and up Val Venosta to Laces. From here drive through Valle Martello past the artificial lake and a few steep hairpin bends to the hotel and car park at 2051m. Itinerary
From the car park ascend right along the road to Rifugio Corsi 2265m. The refuge can be made out from the road on the rocky spur above. From the refuge continue SW past a few rocky outcrops and, zig zagging up leftwards, reach a wide flat valley. Continue up this and cross onto the other side close to the wooden bridge. Head up the slopes to Rifugio Martello at 2610m and continue right through the wide valley to the steep slopes which lead to the Vedretta Alta glacial basin. Continue on the right-hand side of Vedretta and then along the crest leftwards towards the summit. Descent
Descend along the line of ascent. Gear
Normal ski mountaineering equipment. Notes
Although the itinerary is not particularly demanding the vertical height gain is significant. Snow must be settled between Rifugio Martello and Vedretta Alta.
