    Combin de la Tsessette East Face in Switzerland ski descent by Paul Bonhomme, Vivian Bruchez

    On 1 April 2021 French alpinists Paul Bonhomme and Vivian Bruchez made what is likely to be the first ski descent of the east face of Combin de la Tsessette (4141m) in Switzerland.

    From 2 -3 March 2021 Matthias Wurzer and Vittorio Messini, two mountain guides from Kals, Austria, completed a winter ascent of the Virger Nordkette (Frosnitzkamm) from Hintereggerkogel to Galtenscharte in one and a half days. Messini reports.

    The last stage of the 2021 Ski Mountaineering World Cup was won last weekend at Madonna di Campiglio in Italy by Axelle Gachet-Mollaret and Matteo Eydallin. The Frenchwoman and Robert Antonioli won the overall World Cup 2021.

    Farewell to Galliano Bordin, founder of AKU

    Galliano Bordin, the founder of the Italian footwear company AKU, passed away aged 85 on Saturday. The son of a family of shoemakers, Bordin founded the company at Montebelluna in Northern Italy and exported walking shoes, trekking and mountaineering boots and outdoor footwear to over 30 countries around the world including Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.

    In 2020 Francesco Vascellari and Loris De Barba made what is likely to be the first ski descent of the South Face of Cima Ambrizzola in the Dolomites. A few months later they concluded another project with Davide D'Alpaos, namely the probable first descent of the west face of Croda de Marchi Sud in the Marmarole group.
