Route

Rock climb established in June 2017 ground-up over three days by Manuel Baumgartner and Alexander Huber up the NW Face of Cima Ovest, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Dolomites.

Protected with pegs, during their ascent Baumgartner and Huber also resorted to (A0) aid before the first free ascent.
Getting there
The ideal starting points are Cortina d'Ampezzo and Auronzo. These can be reached from the north via the Pusteria Valley, or from the south by first taking the motorway (A27) to Longarone and then following the state road northwards. Both points of departure lead to Misurina, from where a private toll-road winds steeply almost to the base of the Tre Cime's south faces. Park the car at Rifugio Auronzo.
Access
Follow path #105 northwest. Keep to the right and hug the North Faces, then scramble up the scree to the NW Face of Cima Ovest. The route starts to the right of the leaning tower (45 minutes circa). Descent
After belay #9 the terrain becomes less steep. Short rope leftwards to the ledge (II) then follow the ledge rightwards to the normal route and descend down this. Gear
Protected with pegs (see topo). Take a full alpine rack, Friends to #2, nuts
