RockMisja Pec
One of the finest crags not only in Slovenia but the whole of Europe, the horseshoe-shaped overhanging Misja Pec shot to fame in recent years for the sheer number and variety of routes on offer. Stamina tends to be the name of the game, but short bouldery routes can be found on the overhangs to the left and right. Most routes are well bolted but the run-outs tend to get longer the higher you climb. Misja Pec is located on the Slovenian/Italian border just next to the sleepy village Ospo and the magnificent homonymous crag which dominate the hamlet.
GETTING THERE
From the Italian border Paese located to the NE of Trieste drive to Cosina and turn off south along the N10 towards Koper. After the long downhill straight and two hairpin bends turn off right to Osp. Misja Pec is the obvious horseshoe shaped crag to the right. Turn off right onto the small dirt track and park carefully. Alternatively, park in the village. take the path up to the crag (7 minutes). Take all rubbish with you.
THE CLIMBING
Vertical walls and steep overhangs. Most routes are stamina tests, although some contain stopper boulder problems. Almost all routes are extremely polished.
FOOD AND ACCOMODATION
The camping ground in the village is open all year round.
NOTES
Ospo is extremely popular with climbers from Slovenia and its neighbouring countries. If at all possible avoid Easter and All Saints.
