The Burgsteinfall is a very popular icefall in the Ötztal, ideal to get a feel for 6 grade ice. The Burgsteinfall is one of the most popular ice climbs in the Ötztal thanks to its easy access and the possibility to try some 6th grade ice on toprope. In good winter two ice variations and a mixed variation are on offer.
Getting there
Drive towards Längefeld in the Ötztal. Circa 1.5 km before reaching Längenfeld there is a turn off for Astlehn. Park in the via ferrata car park shortly after this. Access
Walk back circa 100m and cross the bridge close to the busstation to walk up to the base of the wall. Continue up left. Walk-in: 20 minutes. Descent
Abseil down the route, or walk back to Längenfeld along the forest road.
