Shisha Pangma: 14th 8000er for Edurne Pasaban, 11th for Mario Panzeri

On 17 May Edurne Pasaban from Spain reached the summit of Shisha Pangma, completing her tour of the 14 highest mountains in the world. She summited along with Italian Mario Panzeri (11th 8000er).

Annapurna summits: Edurne Pasaban climbs 13th 8000er, Joao Garcia his 14th

On 17 April Edurne Pasaban from Spain's Basque country reached the summit of Annapurna, her 13th 8000m peak, while Joao Garcia from Portugal completed the collection of the 14 highest mountains in the world. Asier Izaguirre, Alex Chicón, Nacho Orviz and the Sherpa Mingma, Pasang and Gempu from the Pasaban team all reached the summit, too.

A question of style: Meroi, Pasaban, Kaltenbrunner and all the 14 8000m peaks

Edurne Pasaban with Kanchenjunga and Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner with Lhotse have reached the summit of 12 8000m peaks. Nives Meroi and Romano Benet on the other hand have had to abandon their Kanchenjunga summit bid and have therefore climbed 11. The thoughts of Manuel Lugli about this female "race" to complete the tour of the 14 highest mountains in the world.

Kangchenjunga, summits and abandoned attempts

On 18/05 at 2.30 pm Ferran Latorre from Spain reached the summit of Kangchenjunga. His companions Edurne Pasaban, Juanito Oiarzabal, Asier Izguirre and Alex Chicon summited circa two hours later, at 4:45pm. The Italians Nives Meroi and Romano Benet have abandoned their attempt and returned to Base Camp.

Dhaulagiri success for Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Edurne Pasabán and Ivan Vallejo

On 01/05/2008 Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner from Austria and Edurne Pasabán from Spain both summited Dhaulagiri (8167m), their 11th and 10th 8000m peak respectively. Ivan Vallejo from Ecuador topped out the same day, completing his collection of all 14 8000m peaks.

Mondinelli Nanga Parbat summit

On 20/07/2005 Silvio Mondinelli from Italy, Edurne Pasabán and Iván Vallejo from Spain and the Baltì porter Hassán Jan reached the summit of Nanga Parbat, 8125m They were joined by Josu Bereciartúa, Ester Sabadell and Marianne Chapuissa, all members of the expedition “Al Filo de lo impossibile.”

K2 summit for Italian Da Polenza expedition and Spanish Al filo de lo imposible.

At 13,30 CET Silvio Mondinelli and Karl Unterchirker reached the summit of K2, followed by Walter Nones, Michele Compagnoni and Ugo Giacomelli at 14.15 (17.15 local time). At roughly 17.50 (local time) four members of the Spanish "Al filo de lo imposible” expedition, Edurne Pasaban, Juanito Oiarzabal, Juan Vallejo and Mikel Zabalza, reached the summit, too.
