Route

A nice itinerary at a fairly high altitude, less popular than many others, which winds its way up through a enchanting mountainscape to reach a very panoramic summit. The actual via ferrate is not particularly long but overcomes two steep sections with the help of two iron ladders which make it a fairly difficult outing.

Throughout summer 2013 the mountain guide group "Alta Badia Guides" entirely renovated the Via Ferrata Piz by Lech (Boeseekofel Klettersteig).
Getting there
Start from Corvara, Val Badia, Dolomites. Access
Start from Rifugio Kostner al Vallon 2536m. This is reached quickly from Corvara with the Boé lift and the Vallon chairlift. Alternatively, start from Passo Campolongo and follow along path No. 638. Itinerary
From the top of the chairlift walk to the ferrata in circa 25 minutes  - this is located on the steep walls directly above the mountain hut. The ferrata follows a series of ledges, chimneys and rock faces, alternating between steep sections and easier terrain to reach the two long iron ladders. Climb up these then continue past other equipped sections and easy scrambles to the summit cross. The panorama from here is sensational and sweeps a full 360° from the Sella group and the spectacular view down onto Val Mesdì all the way to the other peaks in Alta Badia past Cortina, Mount Pelmo, Civetta and the Marmolada. Descent
Descend down the normal route east following the Piz da Lec scree slope. This is not demanding but some sections are slippery. Lower down descend a small vertical rock face which is equipped with cable and iron bars. From here you can either bear right down another equipped rock face which leads directly to the top of the Vallon chairlift, or proceed straight down the crest to the bear left down a small ladder. Coast the rock face and reach the slopes above the Boè lift. Gear
Normal ferrata gear (harness, helmet, ferrata kit). Notes
