Symponie d'automne

Symponie d’automne offers superb slab climbing above a deep blue lake. The first pitch is original: a traverse on a metal cable just above the water mark! The route then ascends easy angled slabs and the climb is never excessively difficult. Furthermore, there is plenty of in-situ gear... This is a via “plaisir” which searches for a beautiful line in a beautiful setting. Take care not to climb off-route on pitch 1, the bolted slab is harder than 7a.

GETTING THERE

From Corte drive up the narrow Restonica valley to Bergerie de Grottelle (1370 m).

ACCESS

Continue on foot past Lac de Capitello (circa 1900m), wedged in between splendid granite towers. Coast the lake on the right to the reach the base of the route, where the rocks plunge directly into the crystal clear waters (1.45 hours from the car park).

DESCENT

Abseil down the route. Keep right on the last abseil to not finish in the lake (two 50m ropes).

GEAR

12 quickdraws,  double 50m x 9mm ropes. The route is equipped with 10mm bolts.
