Umpa Lumpa

Umpa Lumpa was created in memory of our dear friend. The name of the crag and the names of the routes represent thoughts and dedications by each route setter to remember and never forget our life and climbing partner Gambino Calogero. The crag offers technical, bouldery climbing up slabs and steep overhangs. Warm-up your tendons carefully therefore on the easier pitches which themselves shouldn't be underestimated.

GETTING THERE

From Modica head south towards Marina di Modica on the Sorda-Sampieri road. After circa 8 km turn off left onto a dirt track (immediately after a building site) and drive along this for 400m and park the car, taking car to leave enough room for the farmer's vehicles. The path, marked with red marked, enters Cava Gisana. Reach the first rope and enter into this fantastic, wild area, descend to the river bed and walk up this (take care during rainy days) for circa 50m. Ascend up left through the thick undergrowth to reach the base of the crag.

THE CLIMBING

The routes are numbered from right to left and vary in height from 8m to 18m. The route name and grade are written at the base.
