Anarva
Great little crag 35m high, split into two sectors with numerous sport and trad climbs. When the sun hits the face you can visit one of the nearby caves and check out the projects or go to Sector C, 3km away towards Anavra. This red limestone sector springs into view on the right and a dirt track leads almost all the way to the base. 70m high, it hosts some beautiful 30m single pitch climbs which combine technique, power and balance. Sector C faces south and if you avoid the hottest hours of the day, climbing is possible here all year round.
GETTING THERE
From Almyros follow signs for the small village Anavra. After circa 25km the cliff appears on the left and forms the edge of a canyon. This is the first sport crag, but to reach Anarva continue on and reach a small church (water fountain inside) and continue along the main road to reach a dirt track on the left. Turn off here and follow this for almost 500m. Park the car in the big field on the left and follow the blue/yellow markers to reach the base of the sectors A and B.
THE CLIMBING
Vertical face climbing requires technique and balance.
FOOD AND ACCOMODATION
Accommodation in Argalasti. The Pelion area is a popular tourist destination and offers all types of accommodation, and wild camping is currently tolerated on the small beach.
NOTES
Wild camping is currently tolerated on the small beach and anywhere in the mountain. If you do not want to return to Almyros, Anavra offers a number of good restaurants.
