    International Mountain Summit: a meeting and a discussion about alpinism, doping, culture and the environment

    At the International Mountain Summit 2014, that will take place in Brixen, Italy, from 16 - 21 October there are two important days organised by the Master in Mountain Medicine and his director Dott. Luigi Festi. The first, on 17 October, is entitled 'A mountain of words, images, emotions, colors' while the second on 18 October is entitled 'Clean and Honest Mountaineering: Reality or Illusion?' and will host an international meeting discussing the use of doping in alpinism and mountain sports.

    After the victory of local runner Franco Collé, followed by Nichademus Hollon (USA) and the Frenchmen Antoine Guillon and Christophe Le-Saux, France's Emilie Lecomte crossed the finishing line last night after 85 hours and 53 minutes, setting a new female track record. Italy's Lisa Barzani finished second in 94 hours and 43 minutes. While the finishing line will officially close on Saturday, runners continue to arrive at Courmayeur. The time has come to share some thoughts about this great tour of the Valle d'Aosta. The report and ideas of Linda Cottino.

    This morning Franco Collé won the Tor des Géants 2014 after 71 hours and 49 minutes. All the other athletes competing in the endurance trail across the 4000m peaks in Italy's Valle d'Aosta, via the 330km and 24,000m elevation gain course, have until 13 September to complete the grueling race.

Those nominated for the Salewa Rock Award are Alexander Megos, Adam Ondra and Muriel Sarkany, while Sachi Amma, Urko Carmona Barandiaran and Dimitri Sharafudtinov have been nominated for the La Sportiva Competition Award. The Climbing Ambassador by Aquafil award will be assigned to the Italian writer, sculptor, alpinist and rock climber Mauro Corona.
