Winter, spring and autumn are good to climb in Antalya. Summer is extremely hot and humid for rock climbing.

Route

Punisher is 450m high and 10 pitches long, mostly on beautiful water worn slabs, very sharp holds and grey colored walls with good belays. General difficulty is grade V, with two pitches of VI. The route follows the natural line that climbs the so-called ‘teardrop-shaped slab’ and offers good, enjoyable and exposed climbing all the way, with two terraces in between. Finally ending on the top of a detached tower.
Getting there
From Antalya take the Altınyaka road to the village of Gedeller for 10 km and then take the branching road to the left for 2km, that would take you into a cluster of newly built villas. The trail starts by a water source. Follow the marked path into the forest, that takes to the bottom of the wide east face of Sivridağ. The approach from the end of road to the bottom of the route takes maximum 25 minutes. Aim for the big, grey, prominent slab on the middle high portion of the face. Itinerary
P1 & P2: Climb a fine slab for two pitches, III+, 75m
Move up on an easy ledge to the bottom of the second slab, I, II, 30m
P3: Start with a crack-chimney to continue an exposed left-rising traverse, to arrive on a hanging belay on the tree, V, 65m
P4: Start from the hanging belay, with a rising leftwards traverse to a broken, tight ledge. Bypass a tree on the left and arrive at the bottom of a fine dihedral-corner, IV+, 35m
P5: Climb the excellent grey dihedral; exposed and good climbing to the top of a tower, V+, 56m
From the top of the tower, scramble rightwards at the top of the wide terrace, until reaching the bottom of the obvious ‘teardrop-shaped slab’ I, 60m
P6: Climb the yellow, steep entry to the left side chimney-crack that bisects the slab vertically, VI, 60m
P7: Climb the right side arête of the chimney-crack, and divert to left hand side mid-pitch to start climbing on the slab itself, V, V+, 65m
P8: Fun, exposed climbing on good holds and excellent friction, to the exit of the slab on a ledge,V, V+,60m
Follow the shoulder to the left to arrive at the bottom of a grey dihedral made of big strong blocks, to the left of the big tower, II, 40m
P9: Climb the excellent, good dihedral type stacked blocks to a fine, sharp ledge by a small tree, V, V+, 40m
P10: Climb a beautiful grey chimney to arrive at the crux of the route, a curving crack that bisects the grey face with an overhanging entry, to reach the top of the tower, VI+, 40m
Descent
Rappel the same route from threads and trees (slings in situ), for 7 pitches of 60m (see the sketch for rappel belay positions) Gear
At least 60m double rope is required, as well as a full set of  cams and wired nuts. Rock pegs were not used in the first ascent. Carry long slings (60 and 120cm). Carry slings for leaving on the rappel stations, just in case. Maps/Bibliography
