General information
Morocco is not a difficult country to visit. Travel to and within the country is easy. Many tour operators offer organised holidays on luxurious coaches, but nevertheless I suggest you rent a car so as to travel independently. All major car hire agencies operate in Morocco and cars can be collected directly from the airport.
Guidebook
"Todra" by Guy Aubert is indispensable.
The climbing
Climbing in the Gorge du Todra is an unforgettable experience. Most routes are bolt-equipped but the multi-pitch routes need natural gear (nuts & friends). A 100m rope is recommended as many of the single pitch routes are extremely long. Spare bolt hangers may be found useful, seeing that someone seems to enjoy collecting them

Best time of year
The best time of year to visit the Gorges du Todra is either autumn or spring. Winter can often be too cold and summer is far too hot for climbing.
Food and accommodation
The hotels within the gorge offer a cheap and characteristic solution. Those more fortunate can reside in the more luxurious Hotel Bougafer at Tinerhir. Food and accommodation is generally very cheap, even if the most spartan accommodation is not recommended to those not used to this type of lodging.
No vaccinations are required, even if vaccinations against typhus, tetanus and hepatitis A and B are always recommended.
Arabic is the official language in Morocco but French is widely spoken. Currently 10 Dirham are worth about US$ 0.95 (12/2000).
The Italian Mountain Guide Nicolò Berzi (Guide Alpine Milano) organises climbing trips to Todra in autumn and spring for beginners and intermediates.
