It is almost impossible not to notice the vast number of small crags and huge rock faces situated on either side of the Arve valley not far from Chamonix.
The climbing areas mentioned in this article could well be mistaken for sports crags, as the routes are not tremendously long and the approaches often short. Nevertheless, as these routes are situated in a mountain environment they demand a great deal of caution and respect.
Commitment, good rope work and a certain "coolness" are essential, since the run-outs between one bolt and the next can, at times, be quite far indeed! |
