Glowacz and Jasper biding time in Patagonia

11.11.2005 by

After establishing Base camp at Cerro Murallón Stefan Glowacz and Robert Jasper are currently waiting for conditions to improve in Patagonia.

Stefan Glowacz and Robert Jasper are currently playing the waiting game in Patagonia. After reaching the foot of Cerro Murallon the duo established Base Camp on 29 October and immediatly met an old friend of theirs: the harsh Patagonian weather. A 5 day storm pinned them down forcing the two to work hard at keeping the ice cave entrance and air shaft free.

On the 6th day the storm abided, offering Glowacz and Jasper a brief glimpse at the line they began in 2004 and now hope to terminate. So far they have climbed the first three pitches up the demanding North Pillar. Hans Martin Götz and the photographer Klaus Fengler are due to arrive shortly. Keep tuned for updates.

Murallón Patagonia
Murallón was first climbed in 1984 by the Italians Cassimiro Ferrari, Carlo Aldè and Paolo Vitali in a historic Patagonian ascent (VI 5.10 A2/3 80°, 1500m, Aldè-Ferrari-Vitali, 1984).
