Russians to attempt North Face of Jannu

Alexander Odintsov and his Russian expedition members will attempt to climb the imposing North Face of Jannu 7710m this spring
In October 2003, a compact Russian expedition led by Alexander Odintsov attempted to scale the formidable North Face of Jannu 7710m. Although unsuccessful, the team set an impressive highpoint of 7200m before retreating due to avalanche danger.

Not one to give up lightly though, Odintsov is planning to return at the end of March to settle the score once and for all with this Himalayan big wall. Russian style, and in all earnest.

And, talking about serious Russian undertakings, the Everest North Face expedition has just completed its acclimatisation process, by climbing Ama Dablam 6856m. Three parties topped out during the a spell of good weather, and the expedition is currently returning to Lukla, from where they will continue on to Kathmandu and then Everest.
