| On 25 ottobre 2002 Denis Urubko, together with Maxut Zhumauev, Vassily Pivtsov and Alexey Raspopov, reached the Central and Main Summit of Shisha Pangma (8013m), the fourteenth highest mountain in the world. Shisha Pangma is Urubko's sixth 8000m peak. He started his Himalayan career in May 2000 with an ascent of Everest, and this was followed a year later with an ascent of Lhotse together with Simone Moro. In just a year and a half the extremely strong mountaineer from Kazakhstan climbed a further four himalayan giants, namely Hidden Peak (G1) and Gasherbrum II in 2001, and Kanchenjunga and Shisha Pangma in 2002. Urubko now plans a winter ascent of K2, as a member of the Polish expedition led by Krzysztof Wielicki. The expedition to the second highest mountain on earth plans to reach Base Camp in December 2002.
