Is this the start of a new era in the Frankenjura? After years of nigh total hegemony on behalf Markus Bock who during the last decade has almost singlehandedly freed all the testpieces in this beautiful Nürnberg area, finally something seems to be rustling under the forest leaves as a new 9a+ has now been added not by Bock but by young Alexander Megos.

The route in question is called Classified, is located at the Holzgauer Wand and was an old project attempted previously by both Bock and strongman Christian Bindhammer. Seeing Megos' astounding ability (he checked in with the world's first 9a onsight just a few weeks ago) it comes as no surprise that he unravelled Classified third go. What is surprising however is that this is his first new route in the Frankenjura and, above all, that at home he has skipped the 9a grade entirely. A quick glance at his "curriculum" below shows that there are plenty of pockets - some incredibly famous - that still need pulling... perhaps the time has come for a new era?
