New gritstone climbs by Pete Whittaker and Jordan Buys

Pete Whittaker and Jordan Buys have established some new gritstone rock climbs at Hall Moor Quarry and Baildon Bank, England.

It's that time of year again: gritstone season in the UK. The cold temperatures have resulted in a series of hard climbs which mark the official start to the 2012/2013, starting with the first ascents of a Psychosomatic Pigeon at Burbage South and De Nada E7 6c at Hall Moor Quarry. Both put up by Pete Whittaker and both graded E7 6c.

But the biggest news so far is certainly No Surrender at Baildon Bank quarry in Yorkshire, freed on 23 November by Jordan Buys who has suggested E8 7a. Despite the crashpad placed at the start of the route, a fall from Font 7C/7C+ crux high above the only piece of gear would certainly have been nasty. Luckily though Buys, acting on the route name, didn't surrender...
