Lead World Cup 2012: Sachi Amma and Hélène Janicot win in Briançon
The second stage of the Lead World Cup 2012 was won on Saturday 21 July by Sachi Amma from Japan and Hélène Janicot from France.

Sachi Amma doesn't cease to amaze. The 23-year-old who always placed within a hair's breadth from the highest podium position last season now seems to have unlocked the key and on Saturday he placed first for the second time running in the Briançon stage of the Lead World Cup 2012. These are his first two victories after a long run of second and third places.
Clibmign as fast as lightening Amma beat Sean McColl from Canada by three holds and Jakob Schubert by four holds who, climbing strongly but decidedly slower, was stopped by the judges for having exceeded the 8 minute time limit. "Unfortunately I miscalculated my climbing and thought I had more time to spare" explained the Austrian who added "There was surely room for more today." Schubert beat Magnus Midtboe from Norway (4th), Romain Desgranges from France (5th) and then, with his best performance to date, young Italian Stefano Ghisolfi: his sixth place is excellent news for the Italian squad. After having been superior in both the Qualification and Semifinal, the reigning World Champion Ramón Julian Puigblanque had to make do with 7th place, while Hyunbin Min from Korea finished 8th.
The women's event was marked (unfortunately) by five tops in a final route which, as was often the case last year, evidently was simply too easy. The ranking was therefore based of the Semifinal and qualification results but seeing that the best two - Hélène Janicot from France and Johanna Ernst from Austria - had topped out on all the routes, climbing time in the final was taken into consideration which handed victory to the French woman. Her team mate Charlotte Durif placed third, while time proved decisive for Slovenian Mina Markovic who, thanks only to her vertical sprint in the final, beat Oda Momoka from Japan who eventually finished 5th. The list of finalists was completed with American Sasha DiGiulian (6th), Japanese Yuka Kobayashi (7th) and Austrian Katharina Posch (8th).
As for the Italians, in addition to the excellent performance of Stefano Ghisolfi, Francis Vettorata placed 17th, Marcello Bombardi 29th and and Silvio Reffo 48°, while in the women's event Jenny Lavarda finished 16th.
