Evilution Direct, Tobias Haller first ground-up ascent at Bishop

20.10.2011 by Planetmountain

Video of Tobias Haller featuring the first ground-up ascent of Evilution Direct V11 at Bishop, USA.

This is a video for connoisseurs, for those who love not just bouldering in general, but highballs in particular. Those extremely high problems which could so easily be single pitch routes, climbed though without a rope, often with plenty of crashpads and spotters who - hopefully - have nothing much to spot.

The video documents Austrian Tobias Haller during his ascent of Evilution Direct, the famous V11 at Buttermilks in Bishop, USA. The peculiarity: this was the first time the problem had been sent ground-up, without being checked out beforehand on a toprope from above... Haller succeeded in 2009, in January. But this isn't the only reason why the ascent makes you shudder!
