Dave Macleod repeats Muy Caliente! at Pembroke
Dave Macleod has carried out the third ascent of Tim Emmett's "Muy Caliente!" E10 6c at Stennis Ford, Pembroke
Scottish climber Dave Macleod has pulled the rabbit from the hat on his first trip ever to Pembroke, Wales, by making a swift repeat of "Muy Caliente!" E10 6c at Stennis Ford. The route had been first ascended by Tim Emmett in June this year and repeated for the first time a fortnight ago by visiting Canadian Steve Townshend.
Macleod worked all the moves quickly on day 1, then repeated the it second go the next day. Talking about the difficulties he thought the route was slightly easier than his "To Hell and Back" E10 6c in the Cairngorms while still deserving the E10 grade. As to Emmett's first ascent he commented "Tim’s lead attempts despite not having linked it on a top rope are an exemplar of taking it right to the limit. A fine effort of boldness."
A few days later Macleod set his sights on "The Brothers Karamazov", a two pitch outing first ascended by Dave Pickford at nearby St Govan’s Head and which had been downgraded to E8. Macleod ran the two pitches into one and the route is now likely to be a full-on E9.
