Watercolours and pastel: Riccarda de Eccher's mountains

Riccarda de Eccher's exhibition "Watercolor, Pastel"is on show in Cortina at the "libreria Sovilla" until 15 April 2007
The Dolomites and the mountains interpreted via the heart's eye. Colours that scan atmospheres, moods and passion for the Pale Mountains and the soul. Well-known shapes, silhouettes, foreshortenings and backgrounds assume a consistency, a threedimensional "other" to their own physical being. And further still, shining reflections of mountains, slightly subdued from ever-changing shades of colours. Rock faces which refract the red that first sets you on fire and then, quietly, overcomes you with its undefinable light purple which waits for darkness to come.

Individual moments and slowly passing time, both passion and research, can be made out within the smallest rock face cracks in Riccarda de Eccher's beautiful watercolours. All her years, days, endless minutes of a life, long, fatal, with an almost predestined attraction for the mountains can be glimpsed. And it is impossible not to be drawn in, struck and fascinated by its power.

Riccarda de Eccher presents a slow and profound journey. A path based on experience and intimate knowledge of the field (she is a passionate and practicing alpinist) which finds its own expression in painting and art. A journey in search of knowledge and introspection of her deep passions and desires. So it is this innate, deep love (for the mountains) which, when looked into, sounded out and re-lived, transpires in the work of this artist who was born in Bolzano, but then later moved to Udine.

A journey which can but fascinate and quiver the deepest chords of those whom, with the same calm, slow pace and surprise admire it with the eye of their hearts.
