Didier Berthod cleans Greenspit, Valle dell Orco

After his 2003 pinkpoint, Didier Berthod has now climbed Greenspit placing the gear on lead, making it a contender for one of the hardest crack climbs in Europe.

Remember Didier Berthod and Greenspit, the steeply overhanging 5.14a/8b+ roof crack in Valle Del Orco he pinkpointed in 2003? Well, the 24 year old Swissman has now upped the ante, placing the trad gear on lead, thereby laying the final piece in this intricate jigsaw puzzle of ascents.

On the redpoint, Berthod placed seven cams, the last of which he shoved in unexpectedly off a rattly hand jam in the middle of the crux. Berthod's ascent came on his second day on the climb since having pinkpointed it two years before.
