Dreams and magic, Lugano celebrates an evening of alpinism and adventure

03.10.2013 by Planetmountain

On Friday 15 November 15 Lugano (CH) will host Dreams and magic: breathtaking adventures from the Rätikon limestone to the glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula with Nina Caprez, Cédric Lachat, Romulus Nottaris and Simon Anthamatten. This year celebrates the 15th anniversary of the death of Delio Ossola and all proceeds will be donated to the homonimous association.

After the success of the first two editions, Lugano's New Rock now launches an original and new meeting with some of the world's most famous mountain players; once again the evening show, accompanied by stunning images, promises to be both interesting and exciting.

The evening kicks off with Nina Caprez and Cédric Lachat, the famous climbers and filmmakers of Silbergeier, a 22 minute film that documents their adventure in Switzerland's Rätikon. These delightful climbers are partners both on the rock and in life and they will talk about themselves, their love for climbing, competitions and adventure, touching on themes that range from exotic climbing in Cuba to redpoint ethics of the hardest routes in Yosemite. Cédric's love for caving will be unearthed, too, as well as Nina's dream that came true: repeating the climb Silbergeier. Their talk is characterised by the young and fun style for which these two Swiss climbers are famous.

The duo will be followed on stage by Romulus Nottaris and his latest adventure in the Antarctic Peninsula, experienced with five friends and avid ski mountaineers from Ticino. Their adventure resulted in "The magic of the white continent" - made by Fulvio Mariani - that documents their traverse of the Drake Passage, ski touring up the peninsula's peaks as well as the wealth of wildlife with hitherto unseen clips of ski mountaineering, sailing and kayaking. Evocative images make this a mouth-watering adventure.

The evening comes to an end with an award given to Simon Anthamatten who in July 2013, together with the Auer brothers, climbed one of the most difficult peaks of the Karakoram in pure alpine style, namely Kunyang Chhish East (7400m) via its the SW Face.
