The seventh stage of the World Cup Lead 2005 took place in Shangai, China, last weekend, and was won by Ramón Julián Puigblanque and Maja Vidmar. The nineteen year old from Slovenia beat the invincible Angela Eiter, who maintains an enormous 200 point advantage. Flavio Crespi maintains the men's overall lead, but his sixth place in China results in his previous 116 point lead whittle down to 63 ahead of Ramón Julián Puigblanque. With just two more competitions to go, Valence at the end of October and Krany at the end of November, Crespi will have to give it his all to resist the Spanish onslaught.

Of course, young Jorg Verhoeven and Cédric Lachat will try to have their say too, and their 2nd and 3rd place in Shanghai bodes well, as does their inverted 3rd and 4th position in the 2005 provisional results, but the 99 point difference should be enough to not worry the Italian too much. Nor should the reigning world champion Tomás Mrázek: he placed 4th in China and is currently 9th overall. Alexandre Chabot did not take part in the competition because of the sponsorship problems with the French Federation, but the 4 times winner of the World Cup Lead is currently "only" 5th, 180 points behind the leader. The 2005 World Cup is going to be fought out between Flavio and Ramón Julián: both are highly motivated and will try their best to win their first ever Cup.
