Despite facing east this beautiful icefall is almost always in condition since it is set deep in a gully and the sun only briefly touches on its rocky flanks. In many respects Pareri Contrastanti is reminiscent of the Modica-Noury on Mont Blanc. The four pitches are varied and beautiful, in particular the first two and the last.
GETTING THERE
From Cogne drive to Lillaz.
ACCESS
From the car park at Lillaz walk along the cross country piste on the hydrographic left of Valeille and then continue along the path. Walk past the enormous boulder and continue along the path to reach the gully and icefall. Scramble up to the base (1 hour 30 minutes).
DESCENT
Abseil descent.
