| Interview with Daniel Dulac after the Ice Boulder Cortina, third leg of the Ice World Cup 2000 What do you think about this competition in Cortina? I love Cortina because it is very important centre for climbing both now and in the past. It's important in summer because of my favourite sport, bouldering, and now in winter there's the Ice Boulder. The organisation is good and there are a lot of motivated young climbers, which is important, too What did you think of the boulder problems in the Final? Were they too hard? No, they were perfect. It's us who have to train more, if at all. The competition here is very specific - the structure is different and difficult, and we simply aren't used to training on this type of structure. I think everything was perfect. Are you happy with your result? Yes, above all because I moved well, I found a good method. I love climbing like this, and I'm always happy when I climb well. Your stylish ascent on the first problem is probably what earned you second place overall. Any comments? I didn't know how to start the first problem, so I chose to cross my axes which was really hard. there were many crossovers and not much space for my feet, but I continued like this, feeling the moves. My sport climbing background certainly helped me for this, but it wasn't enough to get me to the top. |
