The Slovenian climber Klemen Becan finished last year in great style and also begun 2012 in a very successful manner. Right before the last Lead World Cup competition in Barcelona Becan travelled to Oliana to check out this famous crag and he returned home with his hardes on-sight route to date, Fish Eye (8c).

Around New Year he went on a whirlwind trip to Spain and at Oliana he on-sighted Marroncita (8b) and De picos pardos (8b). At Chulilla he on-sighted Los veteranos (8b+), Montagna magica (8b) and Mal de isla (8b+), to which he freed another 30 hitherto unclimbed meters. At Margalef he on-sighted Trango (8b+), while at Sella he on-sighted two 8b's, one of which is a first ascent and currently without a name.

The New Year's party proved a good one a despite a slight hangover he managed to on-sight Kalliste, another 8c at Archidona. "I was totaly exhausted on the top of the route. When I came down I just packed my rack and went to sleep in my car" said Becan at the end of his New Year climbing trip.
