Arco to host the World Youth Sport Climbing Championships 2015
Arco confirms its position as the world's climbing capital: the small town in the Trentino region of Northern Italy will host the World Youth Sport Climbing Championships 2015.
The official nomination was announced Saturday, March 9 in Shanghai: the Plenary Assembly of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) has decided that the Italian town of Arco will host the 2015 World Youth Sport Climbing Championships.
An Italian delegation travelled to China to take part in the ceremony in China, led by Ariano Amici (president of the Italian Sports Climbing Federation) and including Vice-President Paola Gigliott representing the Trentino region, Roberto Bresciani representing the Arco town council, Angelo Seneci (FASI councillor and technical director of Rock Master and the 2011 World Championships) as well as Stefano Tamburini (president of the Arco tourist board).
"The organisation is already running smoothly" stated Albino Marchi, president of the association Arrampicata Sportiva Arco which will organise the Championships. "We will do our very best to match the 2011 World Championships which involved 650 athletes from 56 different countries, 35,000 spectators, 100 accredited journalists and photographers, 11 hours live broadcast on Rai Sport and 100,000 unique visitors during the competition days to the official website."
