The start of Red Bull X-Alps is just days away. On 5 July 33 athletes from 18 nations will cover 1,038 kilometers on foot or by paraglider from Salzburg to the Principality of Monaco as quickly as possible in what is hailed to be the most difficult and the most spectacular adventure race ever.

After his excellent debut in Red Bull X-Alps 2013 where he finished 7th, this year Durogati is the only Italian invited to take part in the competition and his aim is to stand on the very top of the podium. To achieve this, the world paragliding champion will rely heavily on the help of his supporter Ondrej Prochazka: "The X-Alps isn’t a competition you win alone. The role of the supporter is critical for many aspects, from route analysis to interpreting the weather forecast, as well as flight strategies and tactics as the competition unfolds. Things don’t always work according to plan: having a friend at hand is fundamental in order to plan ahead and start anew, full of energy after those difficult moments” explained the athlete from the South Tyrol.

The road that has led Durogati to the 2015 edition of Red Bull X-Alps has not been easy: in October 2014, while training for this race, he suffered a serious injury and it looked as if he would be able to take part in the most challenging of all alpine races. But Durogati did not get discouraged, resumed training after only a month and recovered fully in record time.

Now, just a few days before the start, Aaron Durogati states: "The idea to cross the Alps on foot or by paraglider has always been a dream of mine, ever since I was a child. I’m certain that he who commits few mistakes will win. My strategy? Make fewer mistakes than the others to finish first."
