Gabriele Moroni repeats perfect Valle Bavona highball

di

The video of Italian climber Gabriele Moroni repeating the 8A highball boulder problem ‘Grande gigante gentile’ at Sonlerto in Valle Bavona, Switzerland.

Last May 20-year-old Swiss climber Giuliano Cameroni described his new boulder problem as the "perfect highbal" and, with such an accolade, it’s clear Gabriele Moroni had to go and try Grande gigante gentile, or more simply GGG.

At the start of October the Italian traveled to Sonlerto in Valle Bavona, Switzerland on his own to try the moves on toprope, and after waiting for the rains to end and the rock to dry. last Tuesday he tried the moves once again, cleaned the holds and then made the second repeat after Samuel Ometz.

Don’t be fooled by the apparent ease with which Moroni makes the send. Even after huge highballs such as 29dots and Rigatoni in Valle dell’Orco and Ambrosia in the Buttermilks at Bishop (USA), when you’re climbing 12 meters off the deck, without a rope, everything becomes more complicated…
