Snowboarding in Austria, Arlberg

Omeshorn

If in the morning the sun is shining and fresh snow has fallen it's worth "attacking" east facing slopes such as those close to the Mittagspitze, visible from the Madloch chairlift.

A short traverse to reach the descent gully

Immediately beneath the top of the chairlift traverse left (north). Snowshoes are recommended for snowboarders if the track isn't hard packed enough. The panorama is stupendous and helps to forget the effort. Take care surmounting two small but exposed shoulders, before reaching the start of the descent.

Snowboarding down the gully

It is possible to ski the narrow gully beneath the first shoulder, but for those who prefer a bit more space the wide slope after the second shoulder proves to be a far more interesting option. Descend from here to the road that joins Lech to Zürs. A bus stop is located before the tunnel entrance and the trip to Zürs is included in the lift pass.
