The crags Mallorca is a paradise still waiting to be discovered - probably less than 10% of its potential has been developed to date. There are currently about 15 different crags, either in the SW or the NE of the island. The climbing is predominately up tufas, apart from the crag near Torella (sharp edges). Bolts are generally good but runouts are common. The beautiful 6c "Master of Bolts" at Port Soller is protected by Fischer wall bolts and definitely an exception! The majority of the routes are in the mid/hard grades; most of the better routes are harder than 7b. The crags mentioned here reflect the different climbing styles on Mallorca; technical slabs, steep overhangs and many, many tufas. |
